Illustration for Chicago Reader’s Fiction Issue 2014

New illustration for the Chicago Reader’s Fiction Issue 2014, out this week!

The issue features a juried selection of new stories by Chicago authors. I was asked to create an illustration for Heather Michael’s story, “Diáspora.” The story deals with a poor, fragmented family held captive in a cycle of fear and ransom by the mob.

You can read the full story here, or pick up a copy of the issue. Other illustrations include lovely submissions by Hye Jin Chung, Lilli Carré, Johnny Sampson, and others.

And of course you can always contact me for any questions :)

By the end of the class, students will choose an independent project that could be anything from a set of greeting cards to a gig poster, fine-art print, or components for a zine. Students will need to supply all paper for independent projects. All other supplies will be provided.

Art in Print Journal Review

The latest issue of Art in Print featured an article that kindly mentions my Struwwelpeter artist book.

Written by Courtney R. Thompson, the article covers the recent “Pulled, Pressed, Printed” exhibition at EXPO 72 Gallery. The show featured various Chicago artists and spaces, including Spudnik Press, where I completed the book during the artist residency.

A huge thanks to everyone who came out to the Struwwelpeter opening event at Quimby’s!

It was so much fun and I feel incredibly thankful to be around so many talented and amazing people! I didn’t have a chance to photograph so it’s a good thing that Liz at Quimby’s did :)
