It was so much fun, and I feel truly thankful to be around so many talented and amazing people! I didn’t take any photos so it’s a good thing that Liz at Quimby’s did and posted some on their flickr site. I stole some and reposted them here, hehe..

Bookbinding process...
This post is long overdue, as I’ve been preoccupied with finishing up the books. Anyway, here it is, some photos from the hand binding process! There are a million steps involved, so I won’t get into all the details at the moment.
Just enjoy the shots! :)

Punching holes in a signature, or a group of folded pages (click for larger view)

a stack of the signatures all punched and ready to be sewn

measuring & cutting the spines

cutting the bookcloth for the covers

a few of the materials: bookcloth, spine, bone folder, PVA glue, brush

applying glue to the spines…

…which are glued in place on the bookcloth

applying glue to the bookcloth (above), then gluing the bookboard in place (below)

a bunch of the covers drying and hanging out
…and more to come! I hope you enjoyed this little glimpse into the process… I’ll be posting again soon :)Please join me at Quimby’s event tomorrow night to see some of the finished books!

My print for TEN x TEN

Trunk Show, 2010
10 in. x 10 in. three-color screen print in an edition of 275.
I’ve been meaning to post this for almost a month… This is my piece for TEN x TEN, the collaborative project developed by Spudnik Press Cooperative and Homeroom Chicago.A bit about the project:
TEN x TEN develops the creative relationship between bands and printmakers beyond show posters. Visual artists invited a musician or band to join the project by recording an original song. Artists then created a 10″ x 10″ print inspired by the song they commissioned. The final collection features a suite of ten art prints and a ten song compilation of all new tracks.
For this project, I teamed up with the fabulous and very talented Mr. Max Alexander, check out his website to download/listen to some of his stuff! This print was inspired by the track titled ‘Trunk Show’
TEN x TEN artists include: Dee Clements, Kathleen Judge, Angee Lennard, Onsmith, Colin Palombi, Joey Potts, Grant Reynolds, Tom Smith, Sanya Glisic, Sonnenzimmer
Songs by: Locks, The Late Model Races, Strictly Jug Nuts, Sky Event, Netherfriends, Nones, Christine Kick, Blasted Diplomats, Max Alexander, Jason Adasiewicz
All the prints, as well as additional artworks by each artist, are on display at LivingRoom Gallery, 1530 West Superior Street, Chicago IL.
Exhibition continues January 14 – February 19, 2011
