Been drawing quite a lot lately. Here’s one of the more finished ink drawings, eventually it will be screen printed in color. It’s about 8″ x 11″ or so. I’m printing some holiday cards to send out this year, hopefully I’ll have an image to post soon…

  • 'Gains and Losses' Comic Collaboration with Onsmith

    11:42 pm on November 17, 2011 | 0 Comments Permalink | Reply

Earlier this year, Jeremy Smith (pen name: Onsmith) and I got together to make a nine-panel comic for the next issue of Lumpen Magazine. It’s due out soon so I don’t want to post the entire thing, but it’s pretty experimental in few ways:
    1) this is our first collaboration together, ever; 2) we worked on every part of it, integrating the lines, and 3) it’s a semi-abstract sequence we came up with together. We worked back and forth, first with pencils, then ink. Neither of us knew what to expect, and we were both pretty blown away by how incredible the drawings turned out. It was so enjoyable working with someone as talented as Jeremy, and I hope we do more in the future.

Here’s my finished 2-color print for the Blaque Lyte Print Suite. The entire suite was screen printed by Chris Kerr and Paul Nudd as part of the “Blaque Lyte” exhibition at Hyde Park Art Center in Chicago, going on now through January 9th, 2012. Each edition includes nine 11″ x 15″ multicolor screen prints by participating artists, and all prints shine brightly and beautifully under black lights!
For more information, purchasing, and to view all other prints in the suite, visit Chris Kerr’s website

“Blaque Lyte presents the new and glowing artwork by over thirty international emerging and established artists. Curated by Chicago-based artists Paul Nudd and Chris Kerr, the exhibition explores the visual properties and strange effects of the black light by presenting artwork specifically intended to be seen under ultra violet rays.”

Alongside “Blaque Lyte” is the Keith Herzik retrospective, titled “There Are Still Lofty Dreams, Meager Desires and Still Silliness.” Herzik’s work is just mindblowing, with over 350 pieces ranging from screenprinted posters, paintings, random doodles, scraps of notes, weird-ass awesome drawings, and so on… Here’s a snapshot I stole from his blog.

Been way too busy to update but here’s some new stuff.
I just finished these about a week ago. The original drawings were done with quill pens and ink. These are two-color screenprints on grey French cover stock. Each one is 6.25 in. x 9.5 in., in varied editions. There’s six of them in the set, and they’re available through my etsy site

A long overdue post of some process work. Been working on this larger ink drawing for a new screenprint… sorry for the crappy phone photos! I hope to be posting some new drawings in the coming weeks as well.
