Furnishing and decorating has been on my mind so much lately. This is our new chair, it’s older so it’s got a bit of character. In markers & colored pencil.

Transport (Verkehr) Mini Prints

Here are some mini prints I made for Art on Track! They’re transport-themed and have German subtitles, so now everyone can learn German bwahaha! Each one is a tiny 2-color screen print measuring 2.5 x 4 inches. They can be purchased for a dollar (yep!) from the new sticker machines at Spudnik Press, with all the proceeds going to Spudnik :)

Some process photos of screen printing the creature drawings for Art on Track.
The magenta fabric is flannel and the blue fabric is felt. First time I ever used neon pink ink! The creatures were then stuffed and sewn together into three-dimensional sculptures by the lovely CJ Mace for display in the train car.

Once the black ink prints are done, neon pink is applied on a clean screen

This is one of the drawings I completed for Art on Track, coming up next Saturday.

Not to give away too much (hee hee) but we are doing some super cool stuff with our drawings, involving large-scale screen printing, tons of fabric, transparencies, rainbow threads, mini prints, and other things our imaginations will allow us to do within super strict time limits. We have been getting stuff together for our move, so I am a bit behind on posting. These next two weeks will be a little weird as things are more and more up in the air around here.

I made this drawing of a train after attending a meeting about ‘Art on Track’ last night.

Spudnik Press was invited to participate in ‘Art on Track’ this year – basically, an event that involves various Chicago artists ‘transforming’ an eight-car CTA train for one evening. This year’s event will occur on Saturday, August 7th, from 5 pm to 10 pm. A group of members (myself included) from Spudnik Press will be showcasing a collaborative print-based exhibition in one of the cars – it should be awesome! We are sharing the car with some other artists, so there will be non-print things as well.

We will also be featuring our mini-print machines, where you can purchase a tiny print for 25 cents or a slightly less tiny print for a dollar. All the prints will be train & transport-themed! Here are some ink drawings that I plan on making into tiny colorful prints… going along with the German lessons hehe.
